Sox was just three months old when she was found laying in a pit, emaciated and with a broken leg.

Her cries were heard by a passerby and fortunately was saved before she was to be burned alive. Sometimes I can’t believe what I hear but sadly, thru no fault of their own, this is the sort of abuse dogs are faced with when living on the streets or dumping grounds in Turkey. Sox was immediately taken to a vet clinic and after a few weeks she fully recovered and was ready to thrive in the safety of our rescue facility in Istanbul. And thrive she did! Sox is now a very healthy 2.5 year old girl who weighs approximately 75 lbs. She’s a big love bug and despite her past experience, she adores dogs and people, big and small.

Sox absolutely loves hugs, so much so that you don’t even have to bend down to give them to her. She will gladly stand on her hind legs and gently place her paws on your shoulders and wait for the big squeeze. Okay, so that’s not for everybody but she’s a very smart girl so I’m sure you can teach her differently. This love bug is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

She will be flying to JFK in a couple of weeks and she’s hoping she can fly right into the arms of someone who has lots of hugs to give. If you’re a hugger and want to share the love with Sox, please send a kind message expressing your interest. Please include details as to HOW and WHY she would fit in with your home/lifestyle. We aim to follow up on all messages within 48 hrs. Information about our dogs remain posted on Rescueme until an adoption is final. Once that happens, we immediately remove the post. Therefore, if you are reading about Sox and wondering if she is still available for adoption, the answer is YES.
