Adoption Policy

All of our adoptable dogs are posted on Rescueme.  If you see a dog that catches your eye and captures your heart, you must send a kind message expressing your interest.  We receive many inquiries on each dog we post.  As a result, be sure that your message stands out; include details as to WHY and HOW the dog will fit in with your home/family/lifestyle.

We aim to respond to all genuine inquiries within 48 hours.  If you do not hear from us within that time, we are happy to report that it is because the dog has been adopted or is marked “reserved for adoption.”  Please note, we do not remove “RescueMe” posts until an adoption is final.

The first step in the adoption process begins with the submission of an adoption application.  The information you provide helps us determine whether or not you and the dog will be a good match.   Once approved, we will follow up with a phone interview, a tour or virtual tour of your home and contact with references that you provide.   We do not place dogs in homes on a first come, first served basis, and we reserve the right to reject an application if we deem the applicant is not a good fit for the dog.  Please note, submission of an application does not guarantee approval of adoption.  Approved adopters are required to sign an Adoption Agreement.

The final step in the adoption process is the day you take physical ownership of your Turkish dog.  Street Dog Pals will handle all travel arrangements from Istanbul to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York or Dulles International Airport, Washington, DC.  You will be required to pick up your beloved dog directly from the airport. This is truly an exciting and rewarding experience!

The adoption fee includes mandatory vaccines, blood work, passport, health certificate, sterilization, microchip, crate, and flight costs. The adoption fee is payable within 24-hrs of possession via Venmo or PayPal.

Subsequently, within two of weeks of ownership, you must take your newly adopted dog to a licensed veterinarian for a wellness check and register your dog’s microchip with
